Cynthia M. Green
~ Artist ~

From a very young age, Cynthia Green had a love for art. She would often spend her time indoors creating “masterpieces,” rather than joining the other children on the playground for recess. That love of art turned into a passion for drawing, where she excelled in the area of illustration – particularly portraiture. Cynthia attended Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. Her artistic talents earned her several scholarships to attend formal instruction. After graduating from Carmel High School in 1986, Cynthia went on to pursue her artistic endeavors at the John Herron School of Art, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. During her time at Herron, she worked as a freelance illustrator for two local Indianapolis magazines, while also completing numerous commissioned projects. She has had several successful works reproduced which are available on her website. Cynthia captures the essence of her subject matter in incredible detail – to such a degree that her drawings are often mistaken for photographs. Although she has worked in a variety of mediums ranging from colored pencil to oils, her preferred medium is graphite (pencil), as she feels it lends itself to a subtle, classic appearance that cannot be duplicated with other mediums. She completed "Taters" as a Birthday gift to her husband, and is presently working on "Shades of Grey" the second drawing in her Greyhound Adoption Series.
